Week 16: Still Being Written.

“We seldom discuss it, but many can recall it; that state between rest and wake, where sleep wanes and reality crashes in. It is in this moment she finds herself counting, yet again, as another storm waxes and wanes:

“One Mississippi , two Mississippi , thr…” another flash illuminates the darkness.

It is not yet dawn, and already chaos churns beyond the sturdy embrace of the walls. Being the third storm in the last 24 hours this, unlike the others, is close. Her desire to remain in bed quickly ebbed with the knowledge of impending trouble and it’s accompanying responsibility.

The house would be well secured but checks were necessary. Besides, she needed to look in on her little lambs, they had not made a peep during the nights stormy silence, and that was somewhat concerning.

Clambering foggily from beneath the warm covers, eyes already adjusted to the pre-dawn light, Alice maneuvered easily to the bedroom door. Once more it was too early to be awake but she had convinced herself that things were somehow more peaceful at this hour.  Which, she realized, was an overstatement on her part as the room silhouetted itself in a sickly cacophony of violet and thunder.” ~Excerpt from Beneath the Clouds: by S. Perry

We are apt to dream aren’t we? We create fantastical stories. We at times wish to be elseswhere, to be in some other situation than the one we have been placed.  We desire a new scenario that’s a bit more exciting or calm. We imagine “what if?”
These are not necessarily bad things, as who gave us these great minds and what for? If we didn’t dream and strive there would be a lot of lack in our growth. Yet, we need to put that desire into seeking God. As it is Our God, Creator, Saviour, Shield, and Strength gave us these great minds so that we can ask questions, and are inevitably drawn to His face.
What greater adeventure, what greater fantasy, what greater story is there than the pages of our own stories? We are founded in the sacrifice of Christ Jesus, and continually being written by God Himself.
That He is not yet fisnished writing my story and your own should bring courage and hope and awe at what is to come…. I mean, what makes up a truly well written and great story? Suspense, love, failure, overcoming fears, lessons learnt, adeventures, New settings, triumph in the end… Is this not our own  lives?
Come live a great story with me. The author: The One True God. Who else can say that?

With All Your Heart:

“To the One and Only God of creation, Thank you for not getting writers block with my story. I cannot wait to look back upon it when it is complete and see how I lived and how Your touch is woven in every aspect. To God be the glory and the honour, now and forever. Amen”

With All Your Mind:

Here is a task for you this week: if you have not started a prayer journal I encourage you to do so. I found mine this past week and upon reading through it, I was blown away at how many had been answered and what changes had occurred since I last wrote in it. It is a great encouragement and memory keeper.

In Christ Always,
Sarah
